Novella’s Story
We were alerted to this precious girl who had been abandoned at an emergency vet in town. While she was very skinny and had some severe mastitis from giving birth recently, she was otherwise healthy. The staff at the emergency vet fed her, loved on her, and took care of her for several weeks while they looked for a new home; however, she ultimately was taken to the shelter last week. Unfortunately, she was almost immediately placed on the euthanasia list at the shelter, and her time became limited. Even though the shelter dog-tested her and deemed her a “playgroup rockstar,” meaning that she loves to romp around with other pups, she still had no one interested in adopting her. While we typically try to rescue our pups off the streets and do not usually pull from the shelter, we were already working on this case and just couldn’t let this precious girl be euthanized.
Novella is about 3 years old, 40lbs, and dog and kid-friendly. She is very gentle and loves to cuddle. She is a little wary of men; however, once she sees that the men won’t hurt her, she opens up to them as well. We have named her Novella, which means “story” in Spanish. We are very happy to be a part of her story and to help her find the most perfect happy ending!
June 2024 Foster update: “Once she has enough time to get used to things, all she wants to do is be close and cuddle on the couch. She’s not shy about telling you she wants pets either! She’ll shove herself wherever she can. I’ll be in the middle of a game and my arm starts moving cause she’s trying to lay her head on my lap or just up against me in any way.“
