Lillie May’s Story

Sweet Lillie May was spotted running down Central last week by one of our amazing former adopters. They coaxed her to follow them home—thankfully, she picked the right house, complete with two other huskies, including SDF alum, Terry!

They did all the right things: posted her online, got her scanned for a microchip, and waited to hear from the listed owner. Sadly, when they did, they learned that the original owner had given Lillie away a few months back. The new person bred her, then abandoned her. The original owner didn’t want her back.

It broke our hearts to hear about her past—but we’re overjoyed at what’s ahead. Her finders didn’t hesitate to offer her a safe place to land, and now they’re fostering her!

Lillie is around 3 years old, heartworm positive, and despite her fluffy coat, she weighs just 40 lbs—about 10 lbs under a healthy weight. During her vet check, the doctor noted some signs that she may have been hit by a car at some point in the past. Fortunately, it doesn’t impact her health or mobility at all.

She’s already settling in beautifully, getting along with the other dogs, and showing off her playful, talkative husky side. We’ve even been told she’s great with kids. We can’t wait to watch her blossom!
