Epiphany
Epiphany’s Story
Since this sweet girl was rescued on January 6th, we thought the name was perfect to honor the day she found her second chance.
We received an urgent call from Animal Emergency Center (AEC) that left us stunned. A tan German Shepherd and her 11 newborn puppies, all less than 24 hours old, were in desperate need of help. Mama dog had been shot at least three times while trying her best to care for her tiny babies. X-rays revealed bullets lodged in her arm, elbow, and rib cage. After an emergency meeting with our Streetdog Foundation team leaders, we made the decision to step in, fully aware that this rescue would stretch us financially. But how could we say no to a mama fighting so hard for her babies?
After an exam, it was determined that Epiphany was actually shot at least 4 times. One bullet hit a spinous process (a bony part of her vertebrae), and the shockwave may have bruised or shocked her spinal cord. At first, we were unsure if she would be able to use her back legs. Miraculously, the next morning at 5:00 am, Epiphany GOT UP! The love, prayers, and donations from our community have helped this family take steps - literally - toward healing.
Epiphany is a fighter, a survivor, and a genuinely incredible mom. She is incredibly sweet, strong, and focused on her babies despite everything. She is so concerned for their well-being, and it’s clear she’s doing her best to care for them.
This mama is truly something special, and we’re so grateful for your love and support as she and her babies continue this journey. Stay tuned—there’s more to come from Epiphany and her little krewe!
