Stormy’s Story
October 7th in Memphis was rough. We had experienced incredibly hot temperatures for the prior month and no rain. Literally NO RAIN for 3 + weeks. On this night, it rained almost 5 inches. It was the kind of storm that sneaks up on you - the sky opens up with rain, and next thing you know, the streets are flooded. The sky lit up all night long with lightning. And thunder. Rolls of thunder from far away and then blasts that woke up the whole house. This went on for several hours throughout the night and into the early morning hours.
That being the case, we were absolutely devastated when our volunteer that reads the intake emails (yes, everyone at Streetdog Foundation is a volunteer) opened up the first email and saw her picture. This sweet pup, who had recently given birth, was abandoned in a wire crate that night. Our hearts were shattered when we realized that she was left outside with no cover. No protection from the torrential downpour. No one to comfort or love her while the storms rumbled on all night. She was dumped with nothing but this crate and the tattered collar around her neck.
We were full. Every foster in our program had a foster pup (or two or three) in their home. We even had several dogs in boarding, but we had to say yes to this amazing girl. We had to have a chance to prove to her that not all humans are bad and that she is worthy of love.
Stormy prefers to be the only pup and would do best in a home with older children (11+). According to her foster, she is highly trainable and very smart, does well in a car, loves to fetch, and loves her toys! House- and crate-trained, Stormy is also obedient, playful, affectionate, and goofy.
This girl is ready to settle into her forever home! Forever Safe. Forever Loved. Forever Dry.
